Step 1: Press the Sleep/Wake button, located on the right side of the iPhone, or press the top button on the iPhone X and later models, to turn off the display.

Step 2: To unlock the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button or the top button again. Or, place your finger on the Touch ID sensor or enter your passcode.

Step 3: To configure the time before your iPhone automatically locks, go to “Settings” > “Display & Brightness” > “Auto-Lock.” You can choose from 30 seconds to Never.

Step 4: To configure the time before your iPhone automatically locks when locked, go to “Settings” > “Face ID & Passcode” or “Settings” > “Touch ID & Passcode” > “Require Passcode” and select the time you want.

Step 5: To lock your iPhone screen immediately, press the Sleep/Wake button or the top button, and then slide the “Slide to Power Off” switch to the right.

Additionally, you can also set up Touch ID or Face ID, which allows you to unlock your phone by simply holding it to your face or by using your fingerprint. To set up Touch ID or Face ID, go to “Settings” > “Face ID & Passcode” or “Settings” > “Touch ID & Passcode” > “Add a Fingerprint” or “Set up Face ID”
